[08 Sep 2004|05:06pm] is a novel about two young boys who are both challenged going through life. Freak is crippled and Max is a dysfunctional retard. When they get together, they become Freak the Mighty and go on quests, as Freak rides on Max"'"s shoulders. Character Analysis Maxwell Kane- He is a very caring person. He may be a dysfunctional retard, but when Freak comes along, he begins to understand and do better. He has another problem, which is he grows so fast that during the story people are either afraid of him or making fun of him. Kevin (Freak)- He is very intelligent. He practically knows the whole dictionary. Freak has a problem with his body. His mind grows, but his body doesn"'"t. He has to use crutches or a wheel chair. That"'"s until he starts to ride on Max"'"s shoulders. I think the only problem he has is he"'"s too bossy. Grim and Gram- They are Max"'"s grandparents. They are scared of Max, because he is so big and he reminds them of his father Killer Kane. They do love Max and want the best for him. Gwen- She is Freak"'"s mother. She is a very caring woman, especially about her son. She"'"s tall and skinny. From Max"'"s obsession, she"'"s probably pretty. Kenneth David Kane (Killer Kane)- He is Max"'"s father. He is in jail through most of the story. When he does enter the story, the only thing that he wanted to do was be with his son and prove to him that he didn"'"t killed his mother. Tony D. and his gang- they are a bunch of bullies who run from the police. They pick on and rob people. Loretta Lee- She was a drunk who at first was mean, but didn"'"t want to see anything bad happen to Max. Redeeming quality…...……Max and Freak are two characters that I admire. They may be challenged, but they prove to be quite normal. They don"'"t let things get in their way, especially Freak. Freak the Mighty It all began in daycare. Freak and Max were in the same center. Freak was little and using crutches and Max was bigger than the rest of the kids his age. One day Max noticed that Freak didn"'"t come to daycare or for the rest of the year. After awhile Max didn"'"t see Freak until the third grade. That"'"s when he sees him on a crippled van scowling at him. During the summer before eighth grade, new neighbors move in to a duplex next door. However, their not new neighbors. It"'"s Freak and his mother who have just moved in. As Freak is bossing the movers around his mother tells him to go play in the back yard. As he is turning around, Freak sees Max and calls him an earthling and asks for his name. Max is then scared by Freak and runs into his room, because Freak had told him to die. Max laid in his bed just thinking about why he called him earthling. After awhile, Max goes back outside. To his surprise, Freak is outside too. Yet, he"'"s standing by a tree hitting it, and then he crawls to the house, drags a red wagon out, and climbs into it and resumes hitting the tree. Max wonders what he is hitting, so he moves to get a better view. That"'"s when he sees an object in the tree. Therefore, he goes over to get the object out of the tree, but Freak startles him when he points his crutch at him. Those crutches really scare Max. Freak is so out of breath that he couldn"'"t speak nor move. So max reaches up and gets the object. It"'"s a mechanical bird. Max asked if Freak wanted it, and of course, he did. That was the beginning of their continuing relationship. Freak asked Max where he lived. Max told him that his room is in the basement. Freak wanted to see his room. When they are in his room, Freak makes himself very comfortable and starts to tell him about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. He gets offended when Max said that he thought robots were fake. Freak calms down and explains to Max about robots. Ten minutes later, Gwen is calling for Freak. When she sees Max, she puts Freak in the wagon and rushes into the house. The next day Gram knocks on Max"'"s door. She wanted to talk to him about how Gwen acted yesterday when she saw Max. She told Max that Gwen was sorry and wanted to invite him to dinner. Max"'"s reaction was not what I expected; he said did he have to? Gram told him that he didn"'"t have to go, but it would be nice to. That night Max went to have dinner with Freak and his mother. I guess she was in a rush, because she was talking very fast. During the preparation, she was telling Max about when she knew his mother and father. During dinner, Max chokes on some food, because Freak is telling strange and funny robot stories. Max then coughs up a yucky mess, but he continues to laugh. After they finished eating, Max had to go home. It"'"s now the fourth of July. Today Freak and Max are going to the pond to see the firecrackers. On their way there, Tony D. starts to bother them. Freak gets upset and starts to walk away. He tells Max to follow him and to ignore the cretin. This made Tony D. mad, but before he could do something the sound of a cop car runs them off. At the pond, Max had to put Freak on his shoulders so he could see. As every firecracker explodes, he gets excited and names each and every chemical. After the show, Freak and Max headed for the snack stand. Yet, they make it, because they started running from Tony D. and his gang. Max runs into the pond, which was a good idea, because Tony D. could not go as deep into the water. Therefore, he and his gang started to throw rocks. Luckily, Freak sees a cop car and starts whistling. Tony D. and his gang runaway again as the cops came to their rescue. As the cops drove Freak and Max home, they made Max seem like a hero. Grim and Gram were so proud of him. During the rest of the summer, Freak and Max go on quests. Every morning, Freak knocks on Max"'"s window waking him up, so they can go. One day, Freak took Max on a very long journey. Max"'"s feet were beginning to hurt that"'"s how he knew they were going farther than usual. Freak had taken him to a building called The Experimental Bionics Unit. Freak told Max that the place is making a new body for him. That way he can be normal. That night, Freak has another quest for them. They have to dress in all black and cover their faces in black. At three I the morning, they start the quest. Freak had Max walk down the street to a sewer drain. In the drain, was a purse. Freak had made a fishing pole out of kite string and a paper clip. There was no money in the purse, but there was an ID. The purse belonged to some woman named Loretta Lee. The next, they went to returned the purse to the woman. When they were at Loretta"'"s house, they were met by Loretta at the door. She wasn"'"t exactly, the person they were expecting to see. She was a scrawny, yellow-haired woman with small, hard eyes and blurry red lips. Moreover, her husband was a rude, messy, and scary man. He tells them to come in, not to be polite, but to bother Freak and Max. He asks them all kinds of questions. Yet, when Loretta remembers that Max is Killer Kane"'"s son, Iggy tells them they can go home. Yet, Loretta was trying to get Iggy to do something to Freak and Max. Even though Iggy was big and tough, he sure was scared of Killer Kane. It"'"s a week before school starts. Everyone was making a fuss about having Max in a smart class, but think it would be good for Freak. In school, the kids don"'"t notice Freak and Max. However, when they do, they start to make fun of them. What made it worst was when a teacher asks Max to stand and tell the class what he did for the summer. When he didn"'"t get up, the kids started saying '"'Killer Kane! Killer Kane! Had a kid who got no brain.'"' That"'"s when Freak stood on top of a desk and told everyone to quiet down. When they did, he started telling them about their adventures as Freak the Mighty. Everyone was so interested in Freak and Max. Yet, the commotion they made got they in the Principal"'"s office. With Freak"'"s intelligence, he was able to talk the principal out of punishing them. Now it"'"s October, Friday the thirteenth, and their teacher is getting use to Freak and Max. She even gave up on asking Max to speak in class. Instead, she asks him the questions during study hall, and Max knows them all. During homeroom, Max gets a note from the principal, which told him to come to the office. Freak tried to go with him, but the teacher said he couldn"'"t. In her office, Mrs. Addison has a serious look on her face. Max starts to think that something is wrong. She tells him to calm down. She starts to tell him that his father wanted something, but he wouldn"'"t let her finish the sentence. Mrs. Addison feels bad and tells Max to forget about it. At lunch, Freak is eating his food so fast that he begins to choke. The school called the ambulance and took Freak away. The next day, Max stayed home to wait for Freak to come home from the hospital. When freak came home, his mother told Max that he couldn"'"t go outside until he was better, so they went to his room. The first thing Freak did was start bossing him around like he never was sick. At home, Max is in his room when he hears Grim and Gram arguing. It seems that Max"'"s father might be getting out of jail on parole. Grim wants to protect them by using a gun, but Gram doesn"'"t want him to use a gun, because she has been having dreams about Kenny using the gun against him. Later, Grim goes down into Max"'"s room to talk to him. He asks Max to do him a favor and stay in the house for a couple of days. During Christmas Eve, Gwen and Freak join Max and his grandparents for dinner. After supper, they sit around talking and opening one present. Everyone likes their presents, especially Max. Grim is amazed at the box Freak made Max"'"s present in. It was rigged, so that when Max pressed a button, it would open. Inside was a dictionary that Freak made for Max. It had all his favorite words, but with definitions Max would understand. That night Max got a surprising present, his father. Kenny had snuck into the house. He put his hand over Max"'"s mouth and told him not to say a word. Kenny tells Max to put on his shoes. They left the house and go to Loretta and Iggy"'"s house. They are shock with the presence of Kenny in their house. Yet, they don"'"t stay their long. Iggy had another place for them to stay. I guess he broke into some old woman"'"s house, because max says that it smelt like an old woman and cats. At the house, Kenny takes a bible and swears on it that he didn"'"t kill Max"'"s mother. Then he takes a rope and ties it to him and Max, so he can make sure Max will not runaway. In the morning, Loretta coming in through the back way awakens Kenny. She said that nothing was open, so she brought some left over pizza. Kenny kept insisting to see Iggy and for her to leave. When she did leave, he told Max not to eat anything she touches. Therefore, they went into the kitchen to find something to eat. All the found were prunes, cereal, and spoiled stuff in the refrigerator. So Max just ate some cereal with water. It didn"'"t bother him, because he was so hungry. When Iggy arrived, he told Kenny that the cops had came by his house looking for Max. Kenny told him that he needed a gun and transportation. Iggy left to get what he wanted. Just to be safe, Kenny moves them into the basement of an old burned building. Now he stuffs a gag into Max"'"s mouth and goes out to see Iggy. When he is gone, Loretta enters the basement to free Max. Next thing you know Kenny has his hands around her neck about to kill her, then Max jumps between them saying that he remembers Kenny killing his mother. Kenny them grasps his neck, but lightly. As Max told Kenny what he remembered from the night his mother died, his grip got stronger. Surprisingly, the window breaks open and the police are there, so is Freak. He enters the room with a water gun filled with sulfuric acid. Kenny doesn"'"t believe that sulfuric acid was in the gun, so Freak pulled the trigger right into his eyes. They start running up the steps and get to the outside. There was a whole bunch of police around them. Gwen, Gram and Grim were all they"'"re happy to see them. They had to go down to the police station and fill out papers and take pictures. Back at school, other students are jealous because Freak and Max got their pictures in the newspaper and on television Now Max sleeps on the pull out couch and Gram always checks on him every night. Schools out and it"'"s Freak"'"s birthday. He keeps wishing for things that are impossible for him to get right now. The party was a formal party, so he would not get over excited. Everyone ate food and cake. Freak did not eat his cake. When he got his new computer, he was anxious to set it up and start working on it. Max had gone into the kitchen to help clean up. Then all of a sudden Grim is shouting '"'Kevin.'"' He was having a seizure. They took Freak to the hospital were they had went to before. There they had a tube in his throat that controlled breathing. Freak told Max that he was going to be put into his new body tonight. Max is scared. Freak then gives Max an empty book that he wanted to write the adventures they had in it. The next morning, Max woke up early to go see Freak, without anyone knowing. When he got to the hospital, the nurses were crying and trying to hug Max. He wanted to know what had happened and no one would tell him. Therefore, he broke the window to the medical research door. The next door he could not break through, because it was all metal. So the security struggled with Max and finally got hand-cuffs on him. When Dr. Spivak got there, Max calmed down and told him what happened. Freak was not going there for a new body. He made that up, he always knew since he was young that he was not going to live long. For the next year or so, Max is depressed about Freak dying. That"'"s until he sees Loretta Lee and she told him that him doing nothing was a drag. Therefore, that night, Max opened the pyramid box Freak had made, took out the empty book, and started writing in it. Critical analysis I really enjoyed reading this book. I was so into the story, that even I was sad when I read Freak had died. I would love to read more stories like this one, but Freak lives. left a comment*

[04 Sep 2004|09:29pm] hey , wellll today i went on kaylas boat and we went to tice sholls? or however you spell it. i had lots fun we swam most of the time and i saw some hot kids when we walked to the beach and we swam some more and more aand more and did stunted her sister and then we watched BRING IT ON and then we swam and then we tanned and then we went back to the ocean again and then we swam and i carved my name on the bottom of the boat in fugus!! lol and we didnt want to leave so we circled around her boat so no one would see us. but then we got caught and we left and then we had a barbaque and i just got home like not to long ago * well yae and gabby and emily im sorry for not getting home in time to go to the movies!? totally sorry we have to do it again!? we can go get some got kids screen names and stuff - well im really tired so talk to you later <33 comment 3 | left a comment*

[03 Sep 2004|10:57pm] hey =] , im so tired , and i still wanna clean my room before i go to bed [[ but i guess tahts not happening ]] <33 well today i went shopping all day .. well at 10 i had a doctors appointment and then right after that i had a dentist appointment and then after that from like 1 on we went shopping and came home around 630.. WELL i will tell you everything i got and all the stores i went to cus i know you wanna know!? well will i was done at my dentist i went to SALLYS SALON place and it was everything there and so i got a straightener and some anti dead frizz stuff then i went to TJmaxx and got 2 shirts, a backpack and a purse. [[ i got a aqua shirt and i pink/red shirts and i pink purse ]] .. oo yae im the purse lady i have like 45098 of them! then i went to brave new world and see what they had.. and that was the first time ive been there and i love that store but i also hate it cus everything is so expensive! i wish i was rich.. and when i get older i will own brave new world.. well i got a dark blue and light blue bathing suit and a plaid skirt, a black halter top thing, andi think thats it.. then my sister went to TOYS R US and she got this barbie thing wear you push this button and the dog goes crazy and drags the barbie doll behind! i love it. and the i got a lave lamp for my new room thats coming in like christman. then after that we went to joyce leslies which we spent five hundred hours in. well i got think jean/plaid skirts outfit with a black shirt and a red turtle neck and then i got this puck green plaid skirt with a brown quarter sleeve shirt and then i got a black and white poketdotted skirt with a black and white shirt and i for brown and black knee high socks.. and a tan over sweater thing and a puke green sweater that my mom made me buy and these black shoes my mom is making me wear the first day of school, i think they look a little dressy but there still cute.. i also got earings and i think thats it.. well i think i got alot of stuff for school so yae, i think im ready..? but i dunno- my mom is all messed up and i cant stay in it for more then 3 mintues then getting sick and tired of looking at boxes.. tommarow or whenever im going to the mall to go look at more stuff for school and marshells and HOME FUCKIN DEPOT cus we are getting boxes to put all the shit in my room in cus its all like christman/easter/ and paper work- yae ? well im tired so talk to you people later..?!? coment biz left a comment*

[02 Sep 2004|11:12am] i havent updated this since like tuesday ? i dunno well lets see ill start with tuesday TUESDAY-i babsitted all frickin day then around 630 my mom dropped me off at vets.. it was ok, all i did was hang around then i got bored so i decided to go play on the swing set and rock climb then i got hungry and got a popcorn and an icy and i had like a couple ssips of stephanie and amys thing- they didnt like it so they thew it out.. =[ but i wanted it but i didnt have enough hands to hold it in.. [ pst im fat ] then at 830 amys mom picked me,jori, and amy up then i went home cus i THOUGHT i had to babysit but i didnt and then on WEDNESDAY i went to amys at like fricking 6 cus my dad kept telling me to hold on and i sat in the car for like an hour .. but i finally arrived at amys.. we just hung around in her room all dressed up in skirts and stuff and then we ate dinner then went to dairy queen.. when we got home we just hung around .. yae? and then i threw a stuffed animal at amys duggan and she ducked and it hit the chocolate cup and it got ALL OVER HER RUG.. i was about to cry cus she isnt aloud to get anything on her rug.. but we cleaned it up and you can barly notice itt. actually you cant notice it at all!! and then i got really hyper [ probly from that icecraam ] and i started like braking everything and i was playing with the rah rahs! omg i had fun.. yae but then at 10 my mom picked me up cus i had to go home and babysit!! =[ oo yae and i saw kayla yesterday too!! she was sleeping at amys. well yae and that leaves me to today..? i think amy might come over at like 1 and were gunna go out back and get a frickin tan! well talk to you later ;] ssee yaahh left a comment*

...i love it [18 Aug 2004|10:54pm] i my freaking god * jessie did my new layout and i love it-- im keeping it forever and never am i going to take it off !! lol yae -- im like in love with this layout.. but anyway yesterday i get outta the shower and jessie and chrissy are sitting in my living room so i got ready and threw up my hair and we went to jessie house at 6 [when my mom got home] we just hung around and later that night they wanted to go to kyles house but i really didnt want to cus i knew they were gunna be kissy kissy with eachother so jessies mom dropped me off on the way home and watched the olympics and talked on the computer-- today i woke up at 10.30 and thought it was like 6 oclock in the morning and i was soooo tired.. then around 11.30 my sisters friend came over and i was like screaming at them forever cus they were really bad-- i set them up a barbie town to play with OUTSIDE.. not evan an hour later it start to thunder,lighting,and rain.. they got scared and threw all the toys inside and then it took me about 2 hours to make them clean it all up.. then they were being bitches and didnt want penut butter and jelly for lunch so i made then spagetti and they ate half of then watched cat in the hat.. then jessie came over and she screamed at them cus shes the boss!! lol then they started to listen -- then FINALLY that little girls mom offered to take them for the rest of the day ! i was so relieved!! there a paiin in the ass.!! and a bitch.. then i went over jessies @ 6 and we looked for layouts for my LJ -- then we wanted to go to the chinese buffet but we deccided to go to wendys and then we saw chrissy @ the drivethrew and she came home with us-- when we got home we just hung out and watched tv .. then my mom picked me up not to late ago.. so yae this day was full of adventure! lol see yah ~ comment 2 | left a comment*

[16 Aug 2004|02:29pm] wow! i havent wrote in this mother fucker in a while!! well i have been in wildwood all last week and it was great.. i went to the beach everyday and the pool!! i had lots of fun ~ i also went to the boardwalk and ssaw my grandparents' hotels and my great aunts' hotel too !! yae they used to own it but now they dont anymore.. yae-- im not gunna list everything that i did cus it will take 405984 hours! so im just keeping it short` thats mainly it .. oo yae i went to kaylas party yesterday and it was a blast and a half!! i went in the ppool with my clothes on and then everyone got thrown in with there clothes on-- jordan was the only one that wasnt thrown in-- then everyboday became cold and we all changed into kaylas clothes lol-- love ya kayla -- and then around 10 i got picked up .. i had a really great time !! just b4 i was looking @ all the comments in peoples LJ and whoever is being anyomous is really gay- i hope everyone finds out who it is and when everyone finds out who it is there not gunna have ANY friends ` and i hope you get sad and die. lol well thats it for now- talk to you later !! left a comment*
